Being a Mascot at Ipswich Town FC

If you are a Junior member aged five or over and you would like to be a home or away Mascot leading the Team out and having a day out to remember forever simply complete the application form and return it to the Junior Blues team here at Portman Road.  Don’t forget that you need to get your parent/guardian to sign the form for you. All the forms are put into a monthly ballot, and the lucky mascots are chosen at random. The sooner we receive your form, the more ballots you can be a part of.   If you are one of the lucky ones, we will write to you with details of your match and tell you what you need to do.  Please remember that if selected you will need to provide a full current kit (home or away) to wear on the day, and be accompanied by one parent or guardian. If you are not a season ticket holder you will also need to purchase match tickets.

What does our home mascot get?

If you are a home mascot you can look forward to:

• Your very own pre-match warm up alongside the first team players

•  Your photo and details in the match day programme and on the scoreboard

• A free match day programme and ITFC pennant signed by the first team

• A certificate signed by the Manager

• Leading the team out of the famous Portman Road tunnel

• Photos with the captains and match officials

• Two free match tickets

• A free exclusive match trophy

What about being an away mascot?

We always ask the other clubs within the Championship if we can take a mascot to their ground when Ipswich play there.  It’s great to be an away mascot, and you get to do lots of exciting things!*

Remember, you can apply to be a home and an away mascot.

*All away mascot packages vary according to the club the mascot is selected to go to.

Please note applications for the 2013/14 season are closed.  Applications for the 2014/15 season will open in mid-June.
Please note there is a fee applicable on selection as Mascot and you will also be required to supply your own full and current kit.

First time at Portman Road?

If it’s your first visit to out stadium you may have some questions about how to purchase tickets, where to sit and what there is to do at the ground. Before you arrive you may wish to have purchase tickets in advance, here is how to do so........

Purchasing Match tickets

It’s easy to buy your match tickets, you can do this either online, in person at the Club store Planet Blue or on the turnstiles on matchday. Whatever option you choose, please be aware that tickets are always sold at a discounted rate before the day of the match.

If you choose to buy online you will need to visit www.itfcdirect.com and select the option join in the top right hand corner.  This will allow you to register on the site and create a unique password. When your registration is complete you will be able to login in to the site and from there you can purchase tickets.  In order to purchase a ticket, you will need to select the relevant tab, and so for a visit to Portman Road you would select home games and then choose the game that you would like to attend.  Please be aware that our tickets are sold on a priority basis and so if you are not a member or a season ticket holder you will need to wait until the general sale stage.

We also offer a wide range of both adult and Junior memberships, click here to see details of these

When purchasing tickets via the internet you are able to either purchase seating in a specific area, using the select your own seats option, or if you would like to use the auto select seats option all you will need to enter is the stand that you would like the seats in, and the quantity of tickets.  If you are bringing children to a match you might like to know a little more about the seating arrangements and what might be more suitable for a family.....

There are four stands at Portman Road

The East of England Co-operative stand

This is our biggest stand, which has three tiers.  The whole of the lower tier is a dedicated family area, but areas F, K and L are also family friendly, and are situated in our middle tier if you like to watch the game from  height.  You will also find the Junior Blues room in this stand which is open from 1.30 on Saturday games for fun and games and a visit from club mascots Bluey and Crazee.  This room is suitable for children aged from five to fifteen.

The Sir Bobby Robson Stand

This is not the ideal stand for families, and children below the age of twelve are not permitted to sit in the lower tier. The language in this area can be a little vociferous and the volume in this area of the ground is at its loudest.

The Cobbold Stand

This stand is situated opposite the East of England Co-operative stand and has also has a designated family area. If you would like to watch the match from this stand, the whole of lower tier is a designated family area, although families are permitted in the upper tier too.  Two points of note in this stand are firstly, the visiting supporters sit in the upper tier of this stand, and also if you choose to sit in the lower tier and it rains, you will get wet!

The Sir Alf Ramsey Stand

Although this does not have a specified family area, you will see lots of children sitting in here.  The facilities in the stand are the same as in the others, and it provides an opportunity to watch the game from another angle.

Please rest assured that we adopt a zero tolerance attitude to foul mouthed or abusive comments. If you feel that your child/ren are being subjected to language or behaviour that you don’t want them to hear please tell the nearest steward. Also be aware that to ensure the designated family areas retain a family friendly atmosphere matchday tickets are sold to a ratio of no more than two adults to one under sixteen or eleven ticket.

How to get involved in the action....

Young supporters and families are very welcome at Portman Road, and we put a lot of effort into making them feel so.  Junior members can be seen on the pitch at every match as mascots or taking part in our matchday experience “Fly the Flag.” For more information on either of these activities please contact Julie Bryant on 01473 400584 or email her at: julie.bryant@itfc.co.uk Football clubs, schools and other organisations who wish to enquire with regards to Fly the Flag can also contact her.

What time should I arrive at the ground?

All turnstiles open after all safety checks have been completed, and this is one and a half hours prior to kick off.  So, for a 3pm kick off we are open for action at 1.30pm and for a 7.45pm kick off 6.15pm. We politely ask that all supporters are seated thirty minutes prior to kick off.

Matchday Programmes

You will see lots of supporters reading their matchday programmes.  These are produced for every match and can be purchased from different locations around the ground at a cost of £3.00.  Included in the programme is a special section for our younger supporter full of fun, games and competitions to keep them amused before and after kick off.

Programmes are available from 1.30pm for Saturday games or 6.15pm for midweek games.

The Club shops

The name of our main club store is Planet Blue and you will find it on the corner of the Cobbold and Sir Bobby Robson stands.
On a matchday it’s opening hours are:

For 3pm kick offs:

Opens 10am until kick off and then from the final whistle for thirty minutes

For 7.45pm kick offs:

Opens 10am until kick off and then from 9.30 until 10pm.

Please note that although tickets can be purchased in person from the main club store on matchdays, they can only be sold until 1.30 (6.15 for midweek games), and so please do not join the purchasing queue should there be one after 1.15.  If you still require tickets after this time you are able to purchase directly from the turnstiles around the ground by cash (or card on selected turnstiles).

Should your seating be located in the Sir Alf Ramsey Stand you might wish to visit our Matchday Essentials kiosk for all of those last minute purchases.  Our Planet Bluey store which also contains the essentials and is especially for our younger supporters can be found in the East of England Co-operative stand.

Purchasing refreshments in the stadium

Food and drink purchases can be made from the concourse areas in all four stands of the ground. You will be sure to find something to suit all tastes, and budgets with hot food and snacks being available. Please remember that you will need to pay in cash for any refreshments purchased.

Car Parking

Street parking in the immediate vicinity of the stadium is problematic. However there are plenty of Pay and Display car parks within walking distance of Portman Road. In any case the ground is within easy walking distance of the town centre.

Sat Nav postcode for the stadium: IP1 2DA
